How we fight Spam. |
|
Our spam and Virus program first scans every email for viruses if one is detected
it is immediatly deleted to protect you and
the mail server, if no virus is detected
then our spam filter runs. It uses multiple
public black lists to identify the source
of the spam and also a subscription service
to Arm Research Labs Message Sniffer. Each
of the test add a weighting value to the
message, once the message weight reaches
a preset limit the message is deleted. Messages
that do not reach the limit are passed on
through to an objectionable word filter where
the message is marked if it contains any
of the offensive words in our list, with
a label in the message header and then on
to your mail box. If you view the message
header you will see where we have weighted
it and also where we have marked it as offensive
material. You can create additional filters
using the web mail filtering rules to filter
on the information we have added to the message
headers to tighten up your spam filtering. |

Automatic White Listing, by sending a message through our SMTP server
the recipient is automatically white listed.
Any messages they send to you after you have
sent one to them receives a large negative
weight in our system 4 times the delete level
and allows the message to pass on through
to your email box. The only exception to
this would be if the message contained a
virus, in that case the message would be
deleted before reaching your email box. |

Manual White Listing for those who cannot send through our SMTP
server because their ISP blocks port 25.
(This works only from the web mail system
and not outlook or any other email client.)
Using the web mail system compose a new message
to whitelist@141.com, the subject WL and
for the message enter one email address per
line (no names or extra information please)
Enter as many addresses as you want in one
message. Then send the message, the email
addresses will be added to the white list
all new messages from the whitelisted address
will now pass on through. |
